Giacinta Achille

Greetings to all, I am Giacinta Achille of Luccini.  Perhaps I should explain the correct pronunciation of that for you Northerners?  Very well.  In Tilea my first name is spoken “jhah-CHEEN-tah”, and it means “hyacinth”.  Yes, I was named after a flower.  My surname is pronounced “ah-KEEL-lay”.  I think it is the name of an old Tilean hero.  Of course you may make up your own pronunciation and use that if you like.  Myrmidia knows that I have trouble with enough Northern names.  Most Northerners say "Jhah-SIN-tah" and that suits me fine.

My family being very successful merchants in Tilea, I grew up with the best schooling and everything I could want, besides brothers and sisters, anyway.  When I was old enough to make such a decision, I joined the city militia to help ward against the regular pirate attacks from Sartosa.  There I learned to wield a pike with ease, and it is why I still prefer the claymore to a longsword and shield.

How did I come to serve Myrmidia?  I have always been in the habit of rising at dawn with the sun, because I like watching the play of colors upon the water, Luccini being a port city and all.  One morning, before mess call, I thought that becoming a Knight would be a good idea.  No bright lights, no choir singing, nothing like that.  It just seemed to be an interesting thing to do.

So why am I here in the Northern lands?  Well, I’ve been told by my superiors that my biggest flaw is that I carry out orders very well, but I come up a little short in the “thinking for myself” area.  I thought perhaps that setting out into a completely new country could help me with that.  And of course, these distant townships need all the help they can get to fight the Chaos waves.
